Laois 2-10 Offaly 0-13
Dublin will meet Laois in the semi-finals of the Leinster Championship after Mick O'Dwyer's men ran out three point winners over Offaly in Tullamore this afternoon.
But the victory was tainted somewhat for the winners when both Paul McDonald and captain Ian Fitzgerald received their marching orders late in the game.
Fitzgerald's sending-off was after a second yellow card so his suspension will be less severe than that of McDonald who received a straight red for a high tackle on an Offaly player.
Laois were quick out of the blocks and goaled on nine minutes when Fitzgerland collected a long ball in behind the Offaly full back line to beat goalkeeper Kevin Meehan from close range.
Laois led by seven points midway through the half as Fitzgerald, man-of-the-match Ross Munnelly and Beano McDonald upset the Offaly defence with sharp, crisp scoring.
But Offaly regrouped in the dying minutes and pulled the game level just before the break with scores from Pascal Kellaghan and Niall McNamee. Midfielder Pauric Clancy then retaliated to point Laois into a 1-5 to 0-7 half-time lead.
Offaly made a lively start to the second half and slipped into a slender lead but that advantage was soon overturned when McDonald worked the ball across Meehan's goal line for the second time - a strike that Offaly never got on terms with.
Laois flirted with letting the game slip from their hands as unforced errors late on gifted Offaly the chance to claw their way back into the tie. But despite losing two men in injury time, Laois held out for a victory they just about deserved.
