Over 750 members of the Defence Forces are in Co Wicklow today engaging in the State’s largest-ever peacetime training exercise.
The troops, from the Army’s Southern Brigade, are on manouvres in the Glen of Imaal.
An army spokesman said the exercise was designed to prepare the troops for participation with the European Rapid Reaction Force (RRF) and United Nations peace missions.
Ireland has pledged to have over 800 troops ready to serve with the RRF by the end of next year.
