Celtic striker Henrik Larsson is expected to be out for six weeks after sustaining a double fracture of his jaw at the weekend.
The former Swedish international was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after colliding with Gustave Bahoken in the first half of Celtic's 2-1 victory over Livingston yesterday.
Having had plates and screws inserted in the fracture, Larsson is expected to be allowed home tomorrow, although he will return to hospital at the weekend for a review.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill told the club's website: "Henrik is a world-class player and his loss will be massive. However, Henrik has come back from a broken leg and will want to return quickly".
Meanwhile, Slovakian defender Stanislav Varga has joined Celtic until the end of the season.
Varga, a free agent after being released by Sunderland, has signed a pre-contract agreement on condition he passes a medical and obtains a work permit.
