Arsenal 2 Chelsea 2
Frank Lampard scrambled a late equaliser at Highbury to ensure Chelsea an FA Cup quarter-final replay against holders Arsenal after an absorbing tie packed with high drama.
John Terry had given the Blues an early lead but even after the superb Carlo Cudicini had saved a penalty from Thierry Henry, Arsenal still levelled through Francis Jeffers.
Henry, who also hit the post, made amends by putting the Gunners back ahead on the stroke of half-time and had been substituted by the time that Lampard scraped a replay with six minutes left.
Claudio Ranieri made his final substitutions with 17 minutes left and while Eidur Gudjohnsen was an obvious move, not even the Chelsea fans could understand why Petit and, especially, Gronkjaer went off as Quique de Lucas also came on.
Chelsea almost immediately equalised, however, as Gallas was left unmarked to meet Hasselbaink's free-kick only to direct his header over the bar from six yards out.
Wenger looked to stiffen his side's defensive resolve in the final stages, bringing on midfielder Kolo Toure for Henry and leaving Wiltord up front on his own.
Chelsea nevertheless continued to threaten, with Keown just managing to deflect Hasselbaink's shot over the bar, and the Blues finally managed to equalise from the ensuing corner.
Lampard was not even trying to shoot at the time but, amid an almighty goalmouth scramble, an attempted clearance cannoned onto the midfielder's leg and rebounded into the net.
The visitors were still indebted to a superb save by Cudicini in the final seconds as he dived full-length to keep out van Bronckhorst's stinging free-kick. Then again, Chelsea had deserved their replay. PA
