Sporting Fingal 1 Drogheda United 2:Liam Buckley's Sporting Fingal went down to an 87th-minute goal from Alan McNally as Drogheda United moved clear of Bray Wanderers at the foot of the Airtricity Premier Division with victory at Morton Stadium tonight.

Fingal made eight changes to the side that lost 3-2 to Maritimo in last week’s Europa League qualifier in Madeira.

The home side took the lead on 19 minutes when Eamon Zayed tucked the ball home from close range, although Drogheda’s defence appealed for offside.

A fine run from John Flood led to Drogheda’s equaliser five minutes before the break, with Peter McMahon putting the finishing touches to a well-worked move.

Things got worse for the home side a minute before the break when Keith Quinn picked up a second yellow for bringing down McNally and was sent off.

Both sides had chances in the second half before the numbers were evened up when Drogheda’s Eoghan Osbourne received a second yellow for a foul on Zayed on 83 minutes.

Two minutes later Drogheda substitute Damien Brennan was red-carded and sent from the dugout.

But the visitors were to have the last laugh when Fingal goalkeeper Darren Quigley spilled Mick Daly’s headed attempt, with McNally drilling home the rebound.
