The Government has been urged to hurry legislation through the Dail to outlaw ticket touting for major sporting and entertainment events, after it emerged that pairs of tickets for this year's All-Ireland finals were being advertised at up to £500.

The call came from Mr Dan Boyle, a Green Party Cork councillor, who said there was an urgent need to prevent such profiteering. He said the tickets were being advertised in local Cork papers for up to £500 for two.

Mr Boyle said the Government had accepted in principle a Fine Gael private member's Bill on ticket touting but he said it should now allocate committee time to allow the Bill to become law.
