The Whitechapel County Court has had listed before it the case of "Johnson versus Boswell". Neither party appeared, and accordingly the case was struck out. We are reminded of the fact that a few years ago in the South of England a breach of promise case of "Bardell v. Pickwick" was listed, and that Mr Dickens, Q.C., son of the novelist, was retained for one of the parties. The law lists sometimes, in fact, contain announcements which are calculated to arouse the ire and envy of the practical joker. A contemporary recently noticed an action of "Hand v. Legg," and of "Goldsmith v. Leadbeatter," while we remember to have seen listed such cases as "Judge v. Counsel," "Armour v. Taylor," "Pike v. Salmon," and "Moneypenny v Halpenny."
