Cardiff City manager Lennie Lawrence has tipped captain Graham Kavanagh for an international recall.
The 29-year-old earned the last of his three caps for the Republic of Ireland in the 1-0 friendly defeat by Northern Ireland in Belfast in 1999.
"Graham Kavanagh is in the best form of his career right now and I hope the Republic's officials are taking notice," said Lawrence, who also believes national boss Brian Kerr should include Willie Boland.
"Like Graham, Willie is also in fantastic form and he's in the best physical shape of his footballing life and he deserves a chance at international level."
