Lobatse - The lawyer for a South African woman on death row in Botswana for a love-triangle murder yesterday called her conviction illegitimate and urged a panel of mainly foreign Appeal Court judges to set her free.

In a provision put in place when Botswana gained independence from Britain in 1966, the Appeal Court includes judges from England, Scotland, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

Marietta Bosch (49) was sentenced to death in February last year for the murder in June, 1996, of Ms Maria Wolmarans, her best friend and wife of the man she has since married.
