Chelsea's French defender Frank Leboeuf could be returning to his home country this week to join AS Monaco, British newspapers reported today.
"I have had some great times with Chelsea, but I feel a need to go back to France and rediscover my home region," Leboeuf told The Guardian.
"It is now time for me to move on and win trophies with Monaco. They share my ideas and they deserve better than to be where they are at the moment, 14th in the table."
Chelsea's managing director Colin Hutchinson told The Times: "I have had no contact from Monaco for nine days so at this moment Frank is still a Chelsea player.
"The ball is in Monaco's court and nothing will happen until they get back to us."
Leboeuf, 32, who joined Chelsea in June 1996 for £2.5 million sterling has won two FA Cup medals, the League Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup with the west London club.
