Justin Leonard fired a final-round two-over par 73 today to capture the Worldcom Classic title at Harbour Town Golf Links.
In winning his seventh PGA title, Leonard finished at 14-under par 270 to beat fellow American Heath Slocum by one stroke, Phil Mickelson by two and Germany's Bernhard Langer by three.
"I putted great all day long," said Leonard, who overcame back-to-back bogeys at the 13th and 14th. "To miss that putt at 14. I was mad at the swing. It was a negative swing. I just hit some good shots and played reall solid the last few holes".
Leonard putted across the large 18th green and dropped a two-foot par putt to take the victory.
Slocum took a double bogey at the 16th but settled for his best PGA showing. "It was a lot of fun," he said. "Except for 16, I played pretty well. I'm pleased."
