Racing:Leopardstown have so far escaped the worst of the wintry weather and general manager Tom Burke is confident the big four-day Christmas meeting will kick off on St Stephen's Day without any problems.
The going at the Foxrock track is currently soft and with temperatures due to rise on Christmas Day, Burke believes the fixture which will see the likes of Sizing Europe, Tranquil Sea and Notre Pere perform is safe from the elements.
“It’s looking good actually. Obviously it’s been very cold for the last few days but we’ve managed to avoid the frost, avoid the snow and all the bad weather that’s been going around,” said Burke.
“We’re in good shape at the moment. It looks like we’re in for a cold week, but there is some indication at the moment that the temperatures are going to rise slightly towards Christmas.
“We’re quite confident everything is going to go well and the ground is riding soft at this stage.”
