Dublin city coroner Dr Brian Farrell is to write to the Dutch authorities reflecting the concerns of the family of Paul Nolan-Miralles (36), Clonsilla, Dublin, whose remains were recovered from a canal in Amsterdam.
An open verdict was recorded at the inquest in Dublin on the death of the photographer, who had been living in Amsterdam for 10 years.
His mother Rosario Nolan said she was standing at the canal outside the Hard Rock Café on April 18th last, where he had worked, waiting for police to arrive. He had been missing for five days.
She said she saw her son’s intact body float to the surface. “If the police had stretched a little bit they could have secured the body. They did not do that and they did not stop the [canal] traffic and therefore my son’s body was shredded.”
