to be in contempt

A spokesman for Mountjoy said Lawlor arrived at the jail at around 12:30 p.m.

Lawlor was driven into the prison through a back entrance and managed to avoid the large media presence.

No appeal against the sentence was lodged but it is thought Lawlor was discussing the issue with his legal team as late as this morning.

Mr Justice Smyth fined Lawlor £10,000 and sentenced him to three months in prison. He directed that seven days of the sentence be served, but suspended the balance of the sentence.
