No immediate breakthrough is expected in talks to end the national lift strike. The Minister of State for Labour Affairs, Mr Tom Kitt, continued discussions with IBEC and the ICTU yesterday to see if a basis for settlement could be found.
Meanwhile, the Army is continuing to carry out repairs on lifts at the Ballymun high rise flats complex in Dublin.
