The Commissioners of Irish Lights, the lighthouse authority for Ireland, have brought High Court proceedings aimed at enforcing an alleged €26 million contract for the sale of their headquarters at Pembroke Street, Dublin.
The body has brought the action against three businessmen - Patrick Fitzgerald, Burrow Manor, Calverstown, Kilcullen; Gerry Deane, Castle Building, Friary Road, Naas and Thomas Fox, Leixlip Centre, Leixlip.
It is alleged the businessmen successfully tendered to purchase the commissioners' headquarters at numbers 16, 17 and 18 Pembroke Street, together with the rear of 15 Pembroke Street, and entered into a written contract of sale on June 14th, 2006.
However, the commissioners claim the defendants' solicitors later said they were not prepared to close the sale until a number of issues relating to the rights of the owners of 15 Pembroke Street were resolved. Mr Justice Peter Kelly admitted the case to the Commercial Court yesterday.
