THE founding chairman of the Irish Writer's Union, Jack Harte (who also founded the Irish Writers' Centre) read two engaging stories from his new collection of short stories, Birds and Other Tails, at the book's launch in the Teachers' Club, Parnell Square, on Monday night.
It has been a year of launches and fetes for the Hartes. Last year, the author's daughter Lara Harte won critical acclaim for her debut coming of age novel, First Time. Just 19 when it was published, she's now studying for her exams in French and English at UCD and hopes to have finished her second novel by Christmas.
Birds and Other Tails is published by Dedalus Press and Jack's stories have been widely anthologised here as well as in Britain, the US and Australia.
