A 19-year-old Co Limerick man has died in hospital from injuries received in a single-vehicle collision in Ballingarry last Sunday. Mark O'Sullivan, Clontemple, Ballingarry, was the driver of a car that crashed just before 3am on March 27th.
His death brings to 28 the number of people killed on the roads last month - three more than in March 2004. The death toll for this year is now seven ahead of last year at 100.
Meanwhile, gardaí have named the victim of a crash in Co Carlow on Thursday. John Foley (47), Knockstown, Clonroche, died after the car he was driving crashed into a ditch at Drummond, St Mullins at 9am. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.
Gardaí yesterday also named the two victims of Thursday's collision on the Sligo-Bundoran road in Co Leitrim. They were John Connolly (76), of Tawley, Kinlough, Co Leitrim, and Anne Mac Sorely (40), of Antrim Road, Belfast.
A third person was taken to hospital in Sligo with serious injuries following the head-on collision at Bunduff Bridge near the village of Tullaghan.
