September 2006: two children in Moyross are severely burned following a petrol bomb attack on their car.
November 2006: John Fitzgerald is asked to lead an initiative to address social exclusion, crime, and disorder in Limerick.
April 2007: Fitzgerald recommends an extra 100 gardaí for Limerick and the creation of an agency to promote social, economic and physical regeneration.
June 2007: Limerick Regeneration Agencies formally established.
January 2008: President Mary McAleese launches vision statements of the agencies.
October 2008: regeneration plan promises to demolish 3,000 homes and rebuild 2,400 in a 10-year, €3 billion programme. (€1.6 billion to come from the State)
May 2009: the first demolition of houses in St Mary's Park estate
Autumn 2009: growing fears in Limerick about the Government's commitment to project following delays to approval for projects.
February 2010: then minister for defence Willie ODea tells The Irish Times the State can't afford to spend the €1.7 billion originally planned for the scheme
March 2010: Minister of State for Housing Michael Finneran says the Government is committed to regeneration and pledges to provide funding for two projects
This week: Limerick Regeneration presents its updated plan to Government, which it expects to cost the State €900 million.
