THE annual 2FM Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal, launched in Dublin last night, is expected to collect enough provisions for almost 100,000 hampers. Each year over £500,000 is raised for needy families in the community through the appeal.
Non perishable foods and goods can be donated at collection points, to be sited outside shops and shopping centres. The hampers will be distributed to people within the local community where the funds are raised. There are over 100 Lions Club branches all over Ireland. Sales of the newly released single, Goodbye Girl, from Shane O'Donoghue and Paul Harrington, will go towards the appeal.
