Injured England centre Mike Catt will leave the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia and be replaced by Scott Gibbs.

Lions manager Donal Lenihan said today that Catt had aggravated a calf injury in yesterday’s 28-25 defeat by Australia A and would take no further part in the tour.

Lenihan said Catt, who missed the first three games of the tour because of the injury, would fly back to Britain at the weekend.

Welsh centre Gibbs is due to arrive in Australia tomorrow and is expected to play against New South Wales Country next Tuesday.
