Liverpool have given Galatasaray permission to discuss terms with their out-of-favour striker Jari Litmanen.
The Finland international has failed to hold down a regular first-team place at Anfield and has been pushed further down the pecking order by the summer arrival of Senegal star El Hadji Diouf.
While Liverpool deny a deal has been finalised, a club spokesman confirmed Galatasaray have made an approach for the 31-year-old.
"Every player wants to be in the team and I am no different. It makes you miserable when you don't get picked," Litmanen said before Finland's friendly with the Republic of Ireland last week.
