Mr Gogarty shed little light on 13 entries bearing his name found in the 1988 diary of Mr George Redmond, writes Paul TanneyMr Gogarty had originally given evidence that he had only met Mr Redmond twice that year. In later evidence, and after the discovery of a new document, he accepted there had been a meeting earlier that year between himself, Mr Redmond and Mr Jack Manahan.
Mr Gogarty said an entry in the diary for January 7th might refer to dealings he had with a Mr Michael Lynch, also named there, who had in turn dealt with Mr Redmond. A meeting on January 20th could have been that with Mr Manahan, Mr Gogarty conceded.
A series of five dates between late March and May might have been the meetings with Mr Redmond at that time but other than that Mr Gogarty had no recollection about the other dates.
