Irish acts Damien Rice and Snow Patrol are among the performers who will take part in the Wembley Stadium show on Saturday, July 7th. It is part of a 24-hour, seven continent set of concerts involving more than 100 performers.

The Irish musicians will share the Wembley stage with acts such as Madonna, Foo Fighters, Razorlight and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. More performers will be announced closer to the time.

Oxegen, the sold-out music festival in Punchestown racecourse begins on the same day. Razorlight, who are performing at Live Earth, are due to appear at the Irish festival the following day.

Live Earth marks the start of a year-long campaign to highlight the climate crisis. Proceeds from the concerts will fund a new global effort to combat climate change led by the Alliance for Climate Protection, whose chairman is former US vice-president Al Gore. Campaign groups such as The Climate Group and Stop Climate Chaos will also benefit from proceeds from the concerts.

Live Earth founder, concert producer Kevin Wall, said the list of performers spanned multiple genres and generations. "This monster line-up will ensure Live Earth meets our goal of bringing together people from around the world to combat the climate crisis."

In anticipation of strong demand for the tickets, the organisers are allocating tickets for the Live Earth London concert by ballot. Between midday tomorrow and Monday, ticket applicants can register their details at www.livenation.co.uk/liveearth

Tickets will cost £55 each (€81). Successful applicants will be notified next Wednesday, April 18th, and will have to buy the tickets before Friday, April 20th.

Other concerts will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Shanghai, and Sydney.

The concerts will be streamed live on the Liveearth.msn.com website and will be broadcast on the BBC and more than 120 networks around the world.
