Wycombe etched their name on FA Cup history with a spirited showing against mighty Liverpool in the Villa Park semi-final but it will be the men from Anfield who play Arsenal in the Cardiff final.
Late goals from Emile Heskey and Robbie Fowler ended the Second Division outfit's resistance, although Keith Ryan's 88th-minute effort for Wycombe almost upset the party.
Liverpool turned up the pressure but it was not until the 78th minute that they got their breakthrough. Steven Gerrard's ball in from the right was headed powerfully past Martin Taylor by Heskey.
Danny Murphy came on for a bedraggled Michael Owen after 80 minutes as Lawrie Sanchez threw on Guy Whittingham and Dave Carroll for Brown and Ben Townsend.
But before those changes could have any effect, Fowler had scored Liverpool's second goal with a brilliant, curling free-kick from 20 yards that soared into the top corner.
Still Wycombe would not give in. Two minutes from time, with Wanderers throwing men forward, the ball broke to Keith Ryan and he lifted it over Sander Westerveld to set up a dramatic four minutes of injury-time.
Gerrard missed a glorious chance in the dying seconds when put through by Murphy, but that was the last kick of a memorable semi-final.
