Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will learn over the coming days if he is to face action from the FA following his two-footed lunge at Everton's Gary Naysmith.
Naysmith cleared the ball down the touchline with three minutes remaining of yesterday's Merseyside derby - only to be caught by Gerrard.
Referee Graham Poll decided to let play go on, but the FA's video panel could request a viewing of the incident once they have assessed the report from the match official.
An FA spokesman said today: "We can't set any wheels in motion in terms of video panels until the referee's report comes in.

"Supposedly all officials missed the incident themselves, so again in that situation we are able via panel to invoke the viewing of that incident."
