Sales at Londis shops in the Republic topped €500 million in 2003, the retail franchise group said today.
Mr Stephen O'Riordan, executive director of ADM Londis, said he was pleased with the 14 per cent sales increase across the group's 300 shops in what was a "very competitive" year in retailing. Londis will open a further 30 shops across the country in 2004 creating 600 jobs.
The company will also invest €1 in a re-branding through an intensive nationwide media campaign. The "Londis Plus" brand is being introduced in shops bigger than 5,000 square feet competing in the supermarket sector.
ADM Londis employs over 4,500 staff in its Irish shops.
