Gardí are investigating a robbery yesterday in which thieves tied up a lorry driver at gunpoint before stealing a consignment of cigarettes.

The lorry was driving from a warehouse in the Northwest Business Park in Finglas towards Phibsborough along the Cappagh Road at around 8am yesterday when it was overtaken by another van.

A passenger in this van pointed a handgun at the driver and forced him to drive to a laneway at Barnlodge off Ballycoolin Road.

The driver was tied up and the gunman and three accomplices unloaded his cargo of cigarettes.
