GAA: After Louth were denied a re-fixture for the debacle against Meath in the Leinster SFC final, they now face the daunting task of taking on Dublin in round four of the All-Ireland qualifiers.
The Wee County gave up their chance of appeal against Meath’s win in the provincial decider and will now focus on next weekend’s encounter with Dublin which is likely to be played in Croke Park with venues to be confirmed later today.
Louth may have felt injustice was served when they were denied the Leinster championship title due to an illegal Joe Sheridan goal but they must now put that disappointment behind them to focus on a fixture last played in 2008 when they lost heavily (13 points) against the Dubs.
Last night’s draw sees Kildare take on Monaghan after they were comfortable winners over Derry at the weekend, while their round four opponents lost the Ulster SFC title to Tyrone in Clones yesterday as Mickey Harte’s side retained their provincial crown with ease.
Sligo sensationally lost the Connacht SFC title to Roscommon which means they now take on Down in the next round of the qualifiers, while Cork take on Limerick in a repeat of the 2009 Munster final.
