A woman whose home and business were attacked in north Belfast has blamed the UDA, raising fears that the simmering loyalist feud may boil over into further violence. Shots were fired through the front door of Ms Karen Truesdale's house in Brae Hill Crescent.
A barber's shop on the Crumlin Road, belonging to Ms Truesdale, had earlier yesterday been destroyed by fire. No one was injured in either incident.
Ms Truesdale said she believed she had been targeted because her family had associations with the former loyalist leader, Mr Johnny Adair, who was expelled from the UDA.
The shooting has been linked to a festering dispute between Mr Adair's notorious C Company based in the lower Shankill area and the organisation's leadership which expelled him.
Police are also investigating damage to houses in the Alliance Road area of north Belfast. It is thought these incidents may also be linked to tensions within the UDA.
Earlier, loyalists from the lower Shankill area of Belfast were blamed for attacks on another two houses in the north of the city.
