London Stock Exchange announced Dr Chris Gibson-Smith, is to become the exchange's next chairman when Mr Don Cruickshank steps down at the end of July.

Mr Gibson-Smith is currently chairman of National Air Traffic Services (NATS) Ltd, a post he took up after being a managing director at BP.

He is also a non-executive director of Lloyds TSB Group and British Land.

He will join the Exchange Board from May 1st and will succeed Cruickshank after the AGM.
