A four-vehicle pile-up on Dublin's M50 caused major traffic delays to commuters this afternoon.
The collision occurred after a truck jack-knifed between the Finglas and Blanchardstown exits on the southbound route around 12.30pm.
The driver of the truck was trapped in his overturned vehicle following the collision. He was later taken to hospital where his injuries were described as serious but not life threatening.
Two people from the other vehicles were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
The southbound lanes of the motorway were closed for up to two and half hours while emergency services cleared the road.
All southbound lanes have been reopened, but AA Roadwatch this evening warned of severe delays and advised motorists to avoid the area.
