The National Women's Council of Ireland has called for an official investigation into the exhumation and cremation of the bodies of 155 women from a Dublin Magdalen laundry graveyard a decade ago.
When the remains of 133 women were being removed from the plot on the land at High Park, Drumcondra, in 1993, an additional 22 bodies were found. Death certificates existed for only 75 of the original 133 women.
The chairwoman of the NWCI, Ms Mary Kelly, said it was "shameful that women so dishonoured in their lives by our society have not been accounted for by name or by certification of their mortal remains, in death".
