The Irish journalist, Maggie O'Kane, is to be awarded an honorary degree by the University of Bradford tomorrow. Ms Kane, who works for the Guardian in London, has worked for RTE and reported for The Irish Times from former Yugoslavia.
She is best known for her reporting from the Gulf War, as well as from Beirut, Kuwait and eastern Europe. She has received many journalistic awards. Bradford University awarded her the honorary degree because of her reporting from former Yugoslavia. The university has the world's largest peace studies department. Ms O'Kane was often briefed by university staff.
