Newcastle are on the verge of signing striker Craig Bellamy from Coventry in a Stg£6million move.
Coventry, who were relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season, accepted the Magpies bid last week and the Welsh international has already agreed personal terms with Newcastle, according to the Sky Blues' official website.
He is set to undergo a medical at St James' Park this week before finalising the deal.
Bellamy, 21, scored eight goals in 39 appearances for the Sky Blues last term after joining the club in a Stg£6.5million deal in August 2000 from First Division Norwich, where he had been a prolific goalscorer. -PA
