Households and businesses in large swathes of north county Dublin face a 24-hour water shortage from tomorrow morning.
The cut in service to tens of thousands of homes is due to major upgrading work at Ballycoolen reservoir.
A large trunk main serving much of Dublin City Council and Fingal County Council’s area will be shut from 5.00am tomorrow until 5.00am on Sunday.
There will be severe reduction in water pressure throughout north Dublin, with a total stoppage in some regions.
Areas affected range include Malahide, Howth, Swords, Donabate, Sutton, Skerries, Bayside, Baldoyle, St Margarets, Clonshaugh, Donaghmede, Coolock and Kilmore.
Residents and businesses are asked to use water sparingly during the disruption. Tankered water supplies will be provided by Fingal County Council at twelve different locations, while Dublin City Council will have tankers located at the Atlantic Homecare Car Park on Clonshaugh Rd and the ALDI Car Park on Coolock Drive.
Full lists of the affected areas, location of water tankers and emergency numbers are available on the Fingal County Council website ( http://www.fingalcoco.ie) and Dublin City Council site ( http://www.dublincity.ie).
