Gardaí in Dublin have made a drugs seizure in Dublin worth some €500,000, bringing to €7.1m the estimated value of drugs seized in the city over the last 12 hours.
In the latest search, two men in their twenties were arrested after 6.5 kgs of cocaine and 0.5 kgs of cannabis herb were discovered during a planned search in Malahide.
Gardai estimate the find to have a potential street value of €500,000.
Two firearms and a small quantity of ammunition were also seized.
The search was conducted at 8am this morning at a house at Grove Lane, Malahide Road, by members of the Coolock District Garda Drugs Unit assisted by members of the DMR North Divisional Search Team and the Garda Dog Unit.
An assortment of various property, suspected as being stolen, was seized for examination. Two men have been arrested and are being detained at Coolock Garda Station under Section 2, Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
The latest find brings to €7.1m the estimated value of drugs seized in the city over the last 12 hours.
In a planned search of a house in Tallaght last night, officers found 26kgs of heroin worth €5.2m.
Two men, aged 22 and 29, and a woman of 20 were arrested during the operation in Colberts Fort Road.
All three are being questioned at Tallaght Garda Station under Section Two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The search was carried out by members of the Tallaght District Drugs Unit.
Gardai from the National Drugs Unit and the Clontarf Drugs Unit also seized 180 kilos of cannabis resin in another search at a residence at Clontarf Bay, Clontarf.
The seizure is thought to have a street value of €1.4m.
Three men were arrested at the scene.
A 26 year-old man appeared in court this evening, charged in connection with the find.
A second man, aged 35, was released on bail and is due to appear in court on the 23rd of January. A third man was released without charge. A file has been sent to the DDP.
