An man (18) was charged before a special sitting of Waterford District court last night with assault causing harm, and that during a fight he produced an article (a knife) capable of inflicting serious injury.
The charges were brought against Mr Justyn Longman, Larchville, arising out of an investigation into the death of Brian O'Neill (18) at Woodlawn Grove, Waterford, on February 13th.
Mr Longman was arrested in Waterford city at 6 p.m. on Sunday and charged with the offences under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act 1997 and under Section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, at Waterford Garda station yesterday afternoon.
He appeared before Judge Gerard Furlong, and was remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institution until his next appearance at Waterford District Court on Thursday. An application for free legal aid was granted.
