A man has appeared in Mullingar District Court charged with the manslaughter of a local man outside a GAA clubhouse last year.
Daniel Poynton (18), a building worker from Crowenstown, Delvin, Co Westmeath, is accused of killing Kevin Dowling (41), from Bracklan, Cloughan, Mullingar, last April.
Mr Dowling received serious head injuries in an incident outside St Loman's GAA club on April 9th. He died on April 12th in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
The court heard Mr Poynton, a groundsman for a construction company, had since moved from his previous address at Killucan, Co Westmeath, to Delvin.
Judge John Neilan remanded him on bail on an independent surety of €12,000 and his own surety of €3,000, to March 9th. He banned him from entering any public house and imposed a curfew of 10pm to 6am.
He also ruled that Mr Poynton should sign on every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at Mullingar Garda station.
His solicitor said he was not applying for legal aid.
