A Cork man (19) charged with the murder of his neighbour at her home in the city last Saturday night was further remanded in custody following a court appearance today.
Mr Peter Whelan, of Ashgrove, Rochestown, Cork, was charged with the murder of Nicola Sweeney (20), at a special court sitting today.
The defendant was also charged with assault causing harm to Ms Sinead O’Leary (19), at Underwood House, Rochestown, Cork last Saturday night.
The defendant appeared at Cork District Court today where he was further remanded in custody to facilitate the preparation of a book of evidence in the case.

Judge Uinsin McGruairc remanded Mr Whelan in custody to Cork Prison ordering him to appear again at Cork District Court tomorrow morning.
