A 20-year-old man appeared in court yesterday charged in connection with a gun attack on a relative of members of one of Limerick's feuding gangs.

Paul Reddan, of Delmege Park, Moyross, Limerick, was brought before Judge Tom O'Donnell at Limerick District Court.

He was charged with recklessly discharging a firearm at Ballyneety, Co Limerick, on September 19th, contrary to Section 8 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act.

A man in his early 50s, believed to be a relative of murdered crime figure Kieran Keane, and another person escaped injury when their van came under fire.

Outlining evidence of arrest, charge and caution, Det Garda Dave Burke said that the accused man made no reply when charged with the offence. The accused man did not speak during the brief court hearing.

The judge fixed bail on the accused man's bond of €250 and an independent surety of €5,000. He is to appear in court again on September 28th.
