Gardaí in Cavan are carrying out an investigation after a man was killed in a single vehicle accident in the early hours of this morning.
Lucas O'Reilly, 20, of Kilcogy, Co Cavan, was killed when his car veered off the road at Cloncovet, Kilcogy, at about 3 am. It is believed the car hit a tree before going into a river.
The victim, who was car's only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was removed to Cavan morgue.
Ninety-eight people have been killed on Irish roads so far this year, compared to 112 for the same period last year.
