Man (22) arrested over Dublin city murder

Gardaí investigating the murder of an 80-year-old man in Dublin's inner city two weeks ago have arrested a man.

Gardaí investigating the murder of an 80-year-old man in Dublin's inner city two weeks ago have arrested a man.

The man (22) was arrested in Dublin today shortly before 7.30am.

He is being questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Kevin Street Garda Station.

Vincent Plunkett was found in the bedroom of his home at Robinson Court, Cork Street, Dublin 8, on Monday, 14th August, at around noon. He had been stabbed several times.

There was no sign of forced entry to his home when he was found, leading detectives to believe his assailant was known to him.

He was last seen the previous evening near his home at 9pm.
