Man (38) dies following Portlaoise crash

A 38-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Portlaoise yesterday morning.

A 38-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Portlaoise yesterday morning.

The crash happened at abour 9.45 am on the Stradbally to Carlow Road when a car was in collision with a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken taken to Portlaoise Hospital where he was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon. He has been named as James Fleming from Borris, Co. Carlow. 

The accident scene has been examined by forensic investigators.

Gardai at Portlaoise have appealed to any member of the public that may have been travelling on the road between 9.30am and 10am yesterday morning and that may have witnessed this incident to contact them at 057-8674100.
