A man (47) was killed in a crash in Co Carlow yesterday when his car crashed into a ditch at Drummond, St Mullins, at 9 a.m.
He was named today as John Foley from Knockstown, Clonroche.
Elsewhere, a man and a woman died in a crash on the Sligo/Leitrim border yesterday.
The two-vehicle crash happened at Tullaghan on the N15 on the Sligo side of Bundoran, Co Donegal at around 4.10pm. A third person was seriously injured and taken to Sligo General Hospital.
The two dead people were named as John Connolly (76) from Tawley, Kinlough, Co Leitrim and Anne MacSorely (40) from Antrim Road, Belfast.
Gardaí in Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 071 9820620.
Gardaí said this morning Mark O'Sullivan (19) from Clontemple, Ballingarry, Co Limerick, died on Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash in Ballingarry on Sunday.
A total of 28 people died on the State's roads in March, compared to 25 in March 2004. So far this year 99 people have died on the States roads, an increase of six on the same period last year.
