A man armed with a machete held up and robbed a shop in Northern Ireland last night.

A man armed with a machete held up and robbed a shop in Northern Ireland last night.

A female member of staff was left badly shaken after the incident in the Belvoir estate in Belfast.

The man entered the convenience store in Drumart Square at around 6.30pm, leapt over the counter and demanded the woman empty the till.

He then forced her into a back store room and made her hand over money from a safe before putting the cash in a carrier bag and making off with a male accomplice who was waiting outside.

The robber was described as being around 5ft 8ins tall, stocky and in his late 20s.
