Police in Belfast arrested a man last night after officers came under attack in the north of the city.

Police in Belfast arrested a man last night after officers came under attack in the north of the city.

The man was arrested after police officers were attacked with bottles at around 12.30am in the Manor Street area of north Belfast.

The PSNI said it responded to a disturbance call and discovered a crowd had gathered in the area.

The group began throwing bottles and three officers were hit but suffered minor injuries only.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident around an hour later a 17-year-old boy was set upon and attacked by a gang of up to four men in the Crumlin Road area.

It is believed the teenager suffered a broken leg and was brought to hospital.

Two men were arrested aged 19 and 20. The PSNI are appealing for anyone with information on either incident to contact them.
