A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman who was found strangled in her home in Co Antrim at the weekend.
The body of 53-year-old Pauline Haveron was discovered in a house in the Huntingdale area of Ballyclare on Sunday. Police say she had been strangled.
Details of the death were released yesterday after a postmortem and consultations with the victim's family.
The man, who is from the nearby Greenisland area, was arrested in the Antrim area yesterday afternoon
It is understood that Ms Haveron, a former nurse, had lived in the property in the affluent Huntingdale Green development for around five years since moving from the Greenisland area after separating from her husband.
Local councillor Alderman Paul Girvan knew the family well. "Pauline was a quiet pleasant woman with a kind and good nature," he said.
"This is an absolute tragedy, it's just so sad. It has also been traumatic for the local community. This is a really quiet area and nobody can believe something like this could have happened."
Fellow councillor Vera McWilliam said: "My sympathies really go out to this woman's family. "People will be deeply shocked this has taken place."
