Norwich- A merchant seaman with a history of violence battered his girlfriend's five-year-old daughter to death, less than a year after he was released from prison two-thirds of the way through a seven-year sentence for attempted murder.
In the weeks before Lauren Creed's death, the authorities failed to act on signals that was at risk from Graham Sate (25), from Grimsby, who was convicted of murder and cruelty. He punched, kicked or stamped on her so hard that her liver spilt it two.
The little girl had 167 fresh bruises or abrasions on her body when examined by a pathologist, after dying at her home at RAF Coltishall, Norfolk, in October last year, Norwich Crown Court was told.
Lauren's mother, RAF senior aircraftswoman Sharon Creed (25), also mistreated, neglected or assaulted her daughter. She has already admitted two charges of cruelty.
