A man will appear in court in Enniskillen this morning, charged with the murder of a woman in her home in Omagh, Co Tyrone, on Saturday. The body of Mrs Geraldine McGinn, from Clonmore Gardens, was found by police in a downstairs room shortly after 8 p.m.
The RUC is also treating as murder the death of a man in a house fire in Derry on Saturday. The fire started in the bedroom of his flat at Drumleck Drive, in the Shantallow area.
A woman escaped from a house fire at the Ferndale estate in Clogher, Co Tyrone, early yesterday. The fire was started deliberately when flammable liquid was poured the letter-box and set alight. Police do not believe it to be a sectarian attack. The woman escaped from the first floor by a ladder.
In a shooting incident at 6 a.m. on Saturday on the Antrim Road in north Belfast, a woman was shot in the arm and is recovering in hospital. A firearm was recovered, and the RUC has detained a man for questioning. Police do not believe there was a sectarian motive.
